"Of all my Russian books, the defense contains and diffuses the greatest 'warmth' which may seem odd seeing how supremely abstract Chess is supposed to be" (Vladimir Nabokov)

I played Khet the first time at Clark's U-Con event a couple of years ago. I liked it, and when I was looking around for a game my 10 year old son would like, I bought one last week.
My first impression is that it really is a great game. We've played maybe 10 games of it.
What I'm wondering is whether anyone has played this game often enough that they've realized there is basically a pattern to all the games. Is it more like Chess, where you could study it for 500 years and still learn new stuff, or after another 10 games will every game seem the same?
Has anyone played this game enough to see whether I might still be bothering to open the box this time next year?
Meadmaker, I have not even got to the stage of opening the box in the first place. Too many bells and whistles for my liking. Mirrors reflecting light? However, I did talk to a guy in my local game shop (not the owner) who argued that there is more to it than the wiz and that he plays Khet with his son on a regular basis and it just gets deeper.
