Signup for the Internet Abstract Games Decathlon has begun.
The Internet Abstract Games Decathlon is a competition to play 10 abstract strategy games at internet sites, and come up with a combined score to declare someone an overall winner. The 10 games have been chosen to represent a broad spectrum of activities in the world of abstract games. They represent old and new, popular and obscure, and a wide variety game mechanics.
The purpose of the tournament is to encourage play in a variety of games, some of which are probably new to you.
One feature of this tournament that makes it unusual as tournaments go is that the rating assigned on the various sites will play a large role in deciding the tournament score. This allows people to sign on to the sites and compete, and raise their score, without actually having to arrange a head to head match between competitors. It's a slightly unusual feature, but one that I think will smooth out some of the difficulties between players who might be scattered across many time zones.

The tournament is a pretty informal affair. There are no fees and no prizes, except that the winners will get to pick the games to be played when we do it again.
