The images of Lewis and Clark Local community College or university alumna Kaleigh Grace will be highlighted this summer season in Personal Parallels, a solo exhibition at Photograph This and Additional in Alton.
Grace, 22, of Dow, graduated this spring from Lewis and Clark with an associate in arts – good artwork, and an affiliate in used science in graphic layout.
Intimate Parallels will element 12 images built all through her time at Lewis and Clark.
“Having my to start with solo exhibition is a very surreal knowledge. As an artist, I consider it’s just just one of these massive crowning moments you aspiration of and to see it occur to fruition is quite unique,” Grace explained. “The photographs are part of a more substantial body of perform I have been discovering for some time now, which focuses on the natural entire world and its relationship to the human entire body.

Grace gained a whole lot of recognition for her get the job done at L&C, both of those in artwork and graphic structure. Among the her accolades are Graphic Design University student of the Calendar year 2021, Images Student of the 12 months 2021, and the 2021 Gene Ursprung Award for Photography. She also acquired Excellence in Illustration, Graphic Style, and Creating for The Bridge scholar newspaper, won Greatest in Clearly show at the 15th annual Scholar Artwork Exhibition in 2019, gained unique recognition at the 16th yearly Student Art Exhibition in 2021, and was the protect design winner for the Peppermint Rooster Evaluation, L&C’s student literary journal, in 2021. Grace located a mentor in Professor of Artwork Jeff Vaughn, who retired from L&C this spring.
“I have experienced so numerous mentors and professors that I adore and who have aided me in my journey,” she claimed. “I would say Jeff Vaughn has been one particular of the best mentors. He is 1 of the kindest folks I have achieved and has invested several hours serving to me further more myself as an artist and university student. He is also a phenomenal artist and his operate consistently amazes me.”
Vaughn not only taught Grace, but was instrumental in coordinating Personal Parallels.
“Kaleigh is a wonderful, proficient scholar to operate with,” Vaughn explained. “She is inventive, seeks tips and enjoys dialogue about her artwork. It is been a incredibly worthwhile encounter to be just one of her teachers. Kaleigh has manufactured beautiful, persuasive photos for this exhibition.”
Grace also credits previous professor Steve Campbell and Assistant Professor Louise Jett, who not only coordinates the Graphic Style and design application but advises The Bridge, for steering her into a innovative occupation in graphic design and style. She counts doing the job for The Bridge amongst her preferred recollections at the faculty.
