This page is for the documenting of the proper names for equipment used by IAGO. This involves such things as the proper name for boards, and pieces (this is relevant to royal elimination games). This list is divided by the standardized classification of equipment.

A Sample list of suggested terms
- Alfil: Leaps 2 squares diagonally.
- Amazon/Empress: Moves like a knight or queen.
- Archbishop/Cardinal: Moves like a knight or bishop.
- Bishop: Moves diagonally multiple spaces.
- Chancellor/Marshall: Moves like a knight or rook.
- Dababba: Leaps 2 squares orthogonally.
- Elephant: Steps 1 or leaps 2 squares diagonally. Combines the moves of the ferz and alfil.
- Ferz: Steps 1 square diagonally.
- King: Moves 1 space orthogonally or diagonally. May perform castle move with rook.
- Knight: Leaps 1 square orthogonally and then 1 square diagonally outward.
- Knightrider: makes repeated knight moves in the same direction.
- Man: A non-royal king, moving 1 square in any direction. Capturing this piece does not end the game.
- Pawn: Moves 1 or 2 spaces orthogonally forward. Captures 1 space diagonally forward. May perform en-passant move to capture enemy pawn. *also see: “shatranj pawn”
- Queen: Moves multiple spaces vertically, horizontally or diagonally.
- Rook: Moves multiples spaces vertically or horizontally. May perform castle move with king.
- Shatranj Pawn: Moves 1 space orthogonally forward. Captures one space diagonally forward.
- Warmachine: Steps 1 or leaps 2 squares orthogonally. Combines the moves of the wazir and dababba.
- Wazir: Steps 1 square orthogonally.
